You answered the call—38 tablets are now in Kenya
There was a need, and you responded
This summer our Kenyan Media missionary, James Kariuki, visited with one of our mission partners, Thomas Lolmakar. We have shared how Thomas has been training pastors, church planters, and church leaders in how to use storytelling in their ministry. And OneMessage.tv video Bible stories have been a big part of that training.
While James was there he saw a problem. Many of Thomas’ students did not have a way to share the videos. They could not afford smart phones, tablets, or laptops to show the video stories from God’s Word. James reported that the students needed help.
We reached out to the OneMessage.tv community, and you responded. FAST! We sent out a call on Facebook for $5,000 to buy tablets and projectors for our mission partners. Less than a week later, that goal had been met and passed!
In the past 3 weeks, James has delivered 38 tablets to pastors and church leaders across northern Kenya. They spent some time learning how to use the tablets that were loaded with video Bible stories in several Kenyan languages. And many are already sharing how they're using these new devices to reach their communities.
For most of these church leaders, the only way they had to share with oral learners was by storytelling. But now they can reinforce those stories visually by showing videos in their own language and in their own culture.
One of the students shared how these videos help.
And last week, we also delivered a solar-powered video projector to Henry Wachira who is a missionary among the Rendille people. He has already used the projector in 2 different villages, showing video Bible stories to a total of 350 people, and more than 30 people have already accepted Christ as their savior!
This projector will allow Pastor Henry to widen the impact of the videos in his community and beyond.
