Equip a Pastor to Share the Gospel in New Village

In the last 12 months, God has provided a number of exciting new paths to share our video Bible stories. We have been sharing about our relationship with a Kenyan pastor and missionary named Thomas Lolmakar.

Thomas is an incredible partner who trains leaders and church planters all over northern Kenya. When we first met Thomas we learned that he was training Samburu leaders. Five years ago, we created our first Kenyan video Bible story library in the Samburu language.

Recently, Thomas has been training other leaders from different tribes—Turkana, Rendille, and Pokot. Even though we have not yet produced any videos in the Pokot language, he has been using the Samburu video Bible stories and translating them into Pokot as people are watching. So far, Thomas has trained more than 50 pastors and church planters in four languages to use video Bible stories to share the gospel.

Thomas carries his laptop on his motorcycle traveling around Samburu County sharing the OneMessage.tv videos, but many of the pastors and church planters he is training don’t have a way to share the videos. They have cell phones, but not smart phones, so they cannot play videos.

Right now, we have an opportunity to put the stories of Scripture directly into the hands of the pastors and church planters Thomas is equipping.

A gift of $100 provides one Android tablet for a pastor or church planter. With that tablet, they can go back to their own village and share the stories of the Bible in a way that oral learners can see, hear, and understand.

Our goal is to place tablets in the hands of at least 10 leaders. That means that for $1,000, we can equip an entire group of pastors and church planters to carry the gospel into new villages across northern Kenya and beyond.

We also hope to provide two video projector backpacks at $2,000 each. Each backpack includes a projector, sound system, and solar battery charger—giving a pastor or missionary the ability to share the video Bible stories with crowds of 100 or more, even in places without reliable electricity.

The total need is $5,000: 10 tablets and two video projector backpacks. But every gift, of every size, moves us closer to seeing this vision become reality.
